Simmy Kaler

(Registered Physiotherapist)
BKin, MPT

Simmy grew up in Osoyoos BC; fun fact…. it is in the only desert in Canada! Growing up in a small town meant limited social activities, that’s why she spent most of her time playing either soccer, volleyball or basketball. Being immersed in so many sports meant witnessing her fair share of injuries and the rehab it took to get back into the game. Those experiences lead to her pursuing a career in physiotherapy.

Simmy completed her Bachelor of Kinesiology at the University of Fraser Valley and her Master of Physiotherapy at the University of Sydney. Before moving to Australia to do Physiotherapy she worked as a Kinesiologist which provided a foundation in exercise prescription which allows an active approach to rehab. Before moving back to Canada Simmy spent time working in a private practice where she treated patients with sport and joint injuries. She is now able to supplement her background in exercise rehab with clinical experience in manual techniques for soft tissue release aimed at acute and chronic injuries. Simmy particularly enjoys treating knee and ankle injuries.

She believes that a combination of manual therapy and active rehab (exercises!) provides patients with optimal recovery.

In her spare time you can find Simmy on long walks, going for runs or fitting in a quick workout at the gym.

Walee obtained his Masters of Science in Physical Therapy at the University of Toronto after completing his Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology at the University of British Columbia. Walee has now returned back to the west coast as the cool air and picturesque landscape of BC are what makes him feel at home!

Walee was initially brought to the field of physical therapy when he served as the Head Student Athletic Therapist for the UBC Women’s Hockey team for 3 seasons. He had a very successful experience working with elite athletes and getting them back to play as soon as possible. For his exceptional skill set Walee was honored to receive the Carolyn Dobie Smith award at UBC, given to the Trainer of the Year. Walee also worked with the University of Toronto Varsity Blues Women’s Hockey team during his time in Toronto, in alignment with his passion for sports physical therapy.

Throughout his physical therapy journey Walee has also worked with age groups ranging from pediatric to geriatric, as well as neurological and post-op populations. Walee strives to take an individualized approach to each patient by maximizing their strengths and incorporating personal goals. Whether you are a weekend warrior, avid gym go-er, or just enjoy yoga and long walks, Walee believes that everyone has a different vision for what they consider to be an active lifestyle, and he wants to empower his patients to participate in the things they enjoy. Walee prioritizes education, manual therapy and exercise in order to optimize recovery and prevent re-injury.

In his spare time, you will find Walee searching up a new recipe, running, going to the gym, and experimenting with new sports (maybe you can give him a suggestion)!
